working principle
The varistor is equivalent to a variable resistor that is connected in parallel to the circuit. When the circuit is in normal use, the varistor has a high impedance and a small leakage current, which can be regarded as an open circuit, which has little effect on the circuit. But when a very high surge voltage comes, the resistance of the varistor drops instantaneously so that he can flow a large current while clamping the voltage to a certain value.

Use attention
